Initially, Kurisu was consulted to maintain an existing garden. During discussion on site, the Client expressed dissatisfaction with their landscape design, and invited Kurisu to re-think the space.
On a very steeply inclined lake front property with limited access, the existing landscape design to be renovated presented a serious challenge. All equipment and materials had to be brought in by barge across the lake.
Kurisu created a landscape design incorporating a garden waterfall on the top level that appeared to flow into the existing swimming pool, a lake-side zero-edge for the pool itself that then flowed into a spillway, and a series of waterfalls cascading down the steep hillside. Other elements of the hillside landscape design included a garden bridge overlooking a waterfall, and winding paths leading down to the lake and boathouse.
