In this landscape design renovation, Kurisu transformed a neglected backyard into a focal point of family life and entertaining. Once a flat, featureless lawn, the backyard now boasts a hillside landscape design based on Japanese garden design principles, offering a viewpoint from which to enjoy the garden as well as distant views of the Cascade mountain range. A cascading garden waterfall rambles down the hill into a koi pond, designed to appear as if flowing into the swimming pool. The understated elegance of specimen Japanese pines graces this residential landscape design from the street to the entry, and along paths surrounding the home. This landscape design essentially expanded the Client's living space into a natural setting enjoyable year-round.
