The landscape design for this youth substance abuse rehabilitation center includes a healing garden to serve as a key element for the center. A garden pond, strolling paths, waterfalls and bridges provide a calming, beautiful setting for teenagers in the program. Courtyards, visible from participants' rooms and staff offices, offer naturalistic garden design in which group activities occur. Benches around the garden and near the pond invite quiet contemplation. The teenage participants and permanent staff at Rosecrance have expressed delight and appreciation for the healing garden, which both groups utilize as a space in which to relax and find inspiration for daily life (healing garden testimonials from participants at Rosecrance can be viewed on our Restorative Gardens page). Phase Two of this landscape design will begin in 2005.
