Home Landscaping Design and Build

Desiring "something interesting in the Japanese-style, with a koi pond," the Client asked Kurisu to present a landscape design for the entire property surrounding the residence. The long distance from the street to the main house, as well as an existing landscape presented design challenges. Another was the presence of clay just below the soil, which created a major drainage problem for any landscape design. Kurisu's Japanese garden design met all of these issues. A striking path of China rose slate and mature Japanese pines lead from the street to the house, and drainage catch basins were installed throughout the garden. A garden waterfall design included a cascading stream - crossed by a footbridge just before the home's entrance - that flowed into a naturalistic garden pond full of koi.

This residential landscape design also features a courtyard full of various species of maples, a courtyard garden waterfall, a small fruit arbor, and strolling paths through a gently sloping hillside garden design.
