Home Landscaping Design and Build

The Client wished this small, interior Japanese garden to serve as the focal point of this downtown Chicago penthouse. The garden was to set the mood for the space.

Located on the sixty-fourth floor of a downtown Chicago skyscraper, this landscape design involved strict weight requirements. Reluctant to substitute authentic granite boulders for lighter, artificial rocks, Kurisu carefully designed the Japanese garden to meet these structural requirements. Specially cut to reduce their overall weight, real granite boulders contribute to the luxury of this residence. The intimate garden includes a water feature that fills the space with a soothing, gentle sound. As the first thing one sees upon entering the residence, the Japanese garden establishes a mood both sophisticated and calm.
